Laure Williamson's Bio

 

A NATIVE OF Louisiana, holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from Louisiana State University, a Master of Art from Marshall University and a Master of Fine Art from Ohio University. She has studied in workshops under Janet Fish, William Beckman, and Philip Pearlstein.

She has taught over the last fifteen years at West Virginia State University, Marshall University, Shawnee State University, and as an adjunct at Louisiana State University where she taught painting and drawing. She also conducts private classes and workshops in her studio.

Williamson has exhibited in over thirty juried exhibitions, winning several awards, and over thirty invitational, group, and solo exhibitions. She was commissioned for two murals for the Ohio School system and one for the city of Hurricane, WV.

She continues exhibiting in invitationals, juried exhibitions, and in private galleries both in Louisiana and West Virginia.

She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts/ West Virginia Commission on the Arts Professional Development Grant.

She lives and works in Baton Rouge and the West Virginia Mountains.
